New Leaf Web Page Design Rational

I worked with Mae Planert for my web page. I started off by making the New Leaf logo to put in the upper left hand corner of the page. I used antique olive std roman for my font and used the rotate tool to turn "New". Next I wrote out Home, Services, Products, and Info in the same font and made it a blue/green color. Next I went on google and found a model that suited what I was looking for and took a screen shot of her. then I imported her into my web page. Then I used the rectangle tool to make the blue box. Then I looked up the salons mission statement and wrote it out in the rectangle. For the font I used Lucida Calligraphy. I enjoyed doing this project I thought it was fun and interesting.

Design Rational For Brochure

I did my Brochure with Mae, we chose to do it on the New Leaf Hair Salon because it is a place we both go to. I did the Front, products and talked about their salon hours, mission, appointments, cancellations, and returns. For the Front I wanted to use their logo. So I went onto there website and took a screen shot of their Logo. then I also took a screen shot of one of the models they had up on the website and put her on the cover of the brochure. On the cover I also included the address, phone number, and website address of the Salon. The only fonts I used during this Brochure were Utopia Std. For the Salon hours section I looked on their website to check their actual salon hours and put them into the brochure, I did the same with the Mission, Appointments,Cancellations, and returns. For the Products I did the same and also included a picture of make up brushes. I did this by taking a screen shot from the website.

I started off by finding a black and white picture of Bob Marley and then brought it into Photoshop. From there I went to the filter tab and chose the film grain filter and played around with the intensity and grain of the image. After I was happy with my background image I imported it into QuarkXPress. I made the image a little more faded when I was in quark so that the words were easier to read. After I had the image in Quark I started to add words to the image. I chose Castellar MT STD as my main font and for the font on the bottom I used Impact, I also wanted to bring it the Jamacian vibe so I made the words green, yellow, and red. I didn't really use the layers at all, I just had everything on one layer.
I didn't experiance many issues with Quark, I had one problem with the text having a box around it, but that was solved by clicking on the view tab and unclicking the guides option. I am most proud of way I made the background picture look, I was going for the look of an old poster that you would happen to find on the street, and I think I accomplished it.

Design Rational for Britney Powerpoint

I did my power point on Britney Spears. For the opening slide I chose a black and white picture of Britney and for the font of her name I used Biffo MT Std. Then I had that slide disolve into the next one about Britney's greatest accomplishments. The font I used to talk about the accomplishments was cascade script LT Std, and for each accomplishment I used the dimond animation effect. For the picture in this slide I used one that was almost a silhouette, it was taken from her Circus music video. I also had that slide disolve into the Third slide.
For my third slide I had to take an album and list of its songs along with the times of the songs. I chose her Blackout album because I thought it had an interesting cover, and for the fonts of the songs I tried to find a font that was similar to the one used on the cover of the album. I used Bauhaus std medium.When each song came in used the Peek in animation.I also used the dissolve transition for to get to my table slide. To show my table slide I used the wedge transition. In my table slide I compared Britney to artists that are similar to her, I used Christina Aguilara, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. I compared how they were first recognized, where they were from and the age they were when their debut album came out. For each point on the table I used the cascade scriped LT std, and I used the fade animation to show points. I used the dissolve transition to get to my last slide. The last slide had an assortment of pictures. I chose a picture of her with dark hair and one of her with no hair to show her changing personality. As for the music that went along with this power point I chose My Perogitive and Oops I did it Again.

For my collage I started off by looking on Facebook for different pictures of parts of my body, after I found the pictures I was looking for I put them into photoshop and used the magnetic lasso to cut out specific parts of the pictures of parts of my body. Then I put all the cut out pictures of my body into one project and molded them together. After I was finished I copied the entire image and added as a layer to my font poem. Then I added animation to the whole project and ended up with a movie.

I decided to do this quote because I thought it really described the way I take on challenges and it describes the way I feel about following your dreams. For the word all I used the font blackoak std. and I made it rounded so that it looked as if it was engulfing everything. For the word our I used the font cooper std as just a standard font. For the word dreams I used the font zapfino and made it slanted and long. For the word can I used cooperplate gothic bold, this emphasised the word to make it strong as if you really can do something. For the word come I used the font cooper std again as just a standard font. when I did the word true I used the font perpetua titling MT i thought the font looked very official. For the word if i used cooper std again as a standard font. For the word we I used the font georgia and for the word have I used the font lucida fax. For the word the I used the font orator std. For the word courage I used the font wide latin and made it bulge to make it strong. for the word to i used the font veranda as a standard font. For the word pursue I used the font Lucida handwriting and made it slanted, and for the word them I used the font lucida sans. I also used lucida sans for walt disney.

I arranged the words the way I did so it would be able to read but also be interesting. I didn't encounter any problems when making the font poem, it has been the easiest project so far. I am most proud of the way I made dreams look I like the color I chose and the way I transformed the word. If I could go back and change anything I don't think I would, I really like the way my font poem came out.

Contact Sheet

on the third row I took a picture of a palm tree as landscape then cropped it as a square. Then for the portrait shot I cropped it so that the image was .75 inch by 1 inch high. In row four I used a picture of a cliff size and cropped it all the way down until I was zooming in on part of a fence that you would not notice in the original picture. I did all this by using the crop tool.

In row five I did the went through the same procedure but with a picture of a bunch of puppies. In my final zoomed in picture it was a picture of a dogs nose. The last row was my favorite row, I used a picture of a sailboat and was able to change the way it looked through some of the tools I found under the filter tab.

Contact Sheet

When I started my contact sheet the first thing I did was look for an image that was 1200 dpi. Once I found the image i dragged it on to my desktop to save it in my contact sheet folder. Next i dragged the image from my contact sheet folder on my desktop to my actual contact sheet. Then I had to change that image from 1200 dpi to 600 dpi. I did this by going to image at the top of the screen, scrolling down to image size and where it said 1200 dpi I changed it to 600 dpi. after that I saved the image to my contact sheet folder and then dragged the image from there to my actual contact sheet. After that I had to do the same process over again to change the image from 600 dpi to 300 dpi and then from 300 dpi to 72 dpi.

The next row was a little bit different. I started off my finding a very colorful picture on Google, then I saved that picture to my desktop and dragged it from my desktop into photoshop. From there I was supposed to change the image to the print form which is CMYK so I went to Image at the top of the screen then to mode then to CMYK. Then I saved the image to my contact sheet folder and dragged the image from their to my contact sheet. Next I had to change the picture to the web form which is RGB, so I took the image that I had saved on my desktop and dragged it into photoshop from their I went to Image->Mode->RGB then I saved the image in its RGB form to my contact sheet folder and transported the image from their to my contact sheet. My next task was to change the image to duotone, so I took the image from my desktop and put it in photoshop, then I went to Image->mode->grayscale then I went back to image-> mode-> duotone. From there I played around with colors to see what combination I liked the best. once I had an image that I was happy with, I saved it to my folder on my desktop and then dragged the image from their to my contact sheet. The last think I had to do for this row was make the image black and white. So I took the image from my desktop and dragged it into photo shop, from there I went to Image->mode->grayscale and saved this picture as black and white to my contact sheet folder on my desktop. Once I did that i dragged the image from my folder to the contact sheet. Thats how I did my two rows it was a fun exersize and I am looking forward to finishing my contact sheet.
